  • [01] PM Samaras: Like Greece, Cyprus will also succeed

AMNA/ "After Greece, the Cypriot economy is also entering a tribulation, but throughout the ages, Hellenism has always faced difficulties, but in the end, always dealt with them successfully," Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras said in Limassol on Friday as he headed into an extraordinary European People's Party (EPP) meeting, adding that this was the most important aspect: "Through the difficulties we become stronger, and I truly believe that just as Greece will succeed, so will Cyprus."

"This will also be the message, and the effort...this will be the active participation from here on of the EPP to Cyprus, precisely so that it may overcome these obstacles," the Greek premier added.

Replying to questions, Samaras said that the EPP meeting would examine other issues that are not related to the case of Cyprus but pertaining more generally to the prospects of the EPP which, he noted, "is the strongest party today in the European Union".
