  • [01] Minister of State in Israel

    (ANA-MPA) -- Greek minister of State Haris Pamboukis will be in Israel on Thursday for talks aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries, with the focus on energy issues.

    While in Israel, Pamboukis will meet with Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman, energy and national infrastructures minister Uzi Landau, Bank of Israel Gov. Stanley Fischer and National Security Council chairman Dr. Uzi Arad.

    Pamboukis is accompanied by deputy foreign minister Dimitris Dollis and a team of experts. (ANA-MPA)

    [02] ASE opening: Rise

    Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Thursday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.99 percent, standing at 1,522.30 points at 11:30 am, and turnover at 25.780 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving mostly upward, with the biggest gains in Commerce, up 2.01 percent; and Telecoms, up 1.67 percent.

    The biggest losses were in Mass Media, down 2.78 percent; and Oil & Gas, down 0.59 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.87 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 1.38 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 0.65 percent.

    Of the stocks traded, 44 were up, 26 were down, and 30 were unchanged.

    [03] Protection plan for Mt. Olympos

    The creation of a modern system for protection of the Mt. Olympos National Park against natural disasters and wildfires was approved for funding on Thursday.

    The project, titled "Drafting of Special Management Plan for Olympus National Park Region" was approved for funding by Macedonia-Thrace Decentralised Administration secretary general Thymios Sokos, with a budget of 109,040 euros and a materialisation deadline of 22 months.

    The project includes drafting of the Management Plan and updating of relevant studies that have been carried out by the Pieria prefecture Forestry Service, which are necessary for ensuring protection of the area from natural disasters and fires.
