[01] Grassroots campaign against road tolls
Hundreds of supporters of a nascent movement against road tolls
reportedly responded to a grassroots call to interfere with toll
stations in several parts of the country's highway system on Sunday.
Supporters gathered at tollgates around the country at noon, forcing
bars open to allow motorists to pass without payment until roughly five
in the afternoon.
Speaking to the ANA-MPA, a resident in the Afidne district, just north
of greater Athens, charged that "we live in this district and we pass
here three and four times a day to go to work and home. Half our salary
goes to the tolls and fuel costs, how can we live?".
