    ÁÍÁ-ÌPÁ/Prime Minister George Papandreou on Tuesday received visiting Cyprus President Demetris Christofias in Athens, as the two leaders reiterated long-standing support for a bizonal and bicommunal solution within the framework of UN resolutions, International Law and and the European Union's acquis communautaire.

    Greek and Cypriot leaderships referred to an absolute convergence on views and cited flawless cooperation, while noting that Cyprus must prevail as one state, with one authority and one nationality for its citizens.ana-mpa

    After the meeting with Christofias, the Greek premier noted that unless the Cyprus issue is solved relations between Athens and Ankara can never be completely normalised.

    [02] ÉÌF on loan repayment option

    ANa-MPA/Greek bond spreads remained at very high levels on Tuesday after Poul Thomsen, the IMF's representative in the EU-ECB-IMF "troika", expressed reservations over Greece's ability to borrow from the open markets necessary funds to repay its debt.ana-mpa

    The IMF official, however, stressed that Greece could return to markets, without determining the time needed for this to become feasible, while he added that the International Monetary Fund was examining a plan to extend the period of repaying the loans offered to the country.ana-mpa

    He also implied that the support mechanism could secure the necessary additional loans to the country if it failed to raise money from the markets.
