  • [01] Classic cars exhibition

    The 4th annual classic cars exhibition opened its doors on Wednesday in Hania. More than 40 cars, private, professional and military, built between 1922 and 1980 will be displayed in the premises of the old medieval customs building. Among the displays are an 825cc Citroen made in 1922 and a 600cc DKW of 1936.

    The exhibition will end on Aug. 30.

    [02] ASE opening: Rise

    Equity prices were rising at the opening of trade on Thursday on the Athens Stock Exchange (ASE), with the basic share price index up 0.91 percent, standing at 2,371.76 points at 10:45 a.m., and turnover at 20.4 million euros.

    Individual sector indices were moving mostly upward, with the biggest gains in Chemicals, up 2.48 percent; Commerce, up 2.44 percent; and Media, up 1.93 percent.

    The biggest losses were in Insurance, down 1.92 percent; and Food and Beverages, down 1.76 percent.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 1.14 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.86 percent, and the FTSE/ASE-80 small cap index was up 1.03 percent.

    Of the stocks moved, 90 were up, 19 were down, and 10 were unchanged.
