History enthusiasts recreate a medieval knightly joust in the Heroes'
Square, at the opening of a two-day equestrian festival entitled
"National Gallop", in Budapest, Hungary, 31 May 2009.The National
Gallop is a riding competition with a historic theme and is based on
Hungarian traditions, making it a national cultural event with a dual
aim: preserving ancient traditions and creating new ones. The highlight
of the events is a old-style race in which Hungarian villages can enter
and compete against each other. Between the races, Hungarian military
history and its relation to knights on horseback will be revived in a
