[01] Papandreou in hospital after bicycle accidentMain opposition PASOK leader George Papandreou was rushed to the KAT hospital on Sunday after breaking a finger and fracturing a vertebra in an accident while riding his bicycle, where he underwent minor surgery for a fracture to the carpal in the third finger of his right hand. He is expected to remain in hospital for 3-4 daysAccording to a hospital medical bulletin, Papandreou also suffered a fracture in the eighth thoracic vertebra, without neurological symptomology, for which no surgical intervention was required. Given Papandreou's hospitalisation, his tour of Ileia prefecture and a meeting of the PASOK Political Council scheduled there for Tuesday are expected to be postponed. The accident occured at 2:00 p.m. on Stamata Boulevard, as Papandreou was taking his usual bicycle ride. The PASOK leader fell off the bicycle when it blocked. The laboratory and clinical tests showed no neurological symptomology or other damage to worry his doctors, but Papandreou will remain hospitalised for the next 3-4 days for an overall examination of his condition after the accident.
