[01] Turnover up in industrial sector
The industrial sector turnover composite index jumped by 12.5 percent
in November 2007, compared with the same month in 2006, the National
Statistics Service said on Friday. The statistics service, in its
monthly report, said the index was up 2.8 pct in November 2006.
NSS attributed the 12.5 percent increase in the turnover index to a 5.7
pct rise in the mining turnover index and a 12.6 pct increase in the
manufacturing turnover index. The composite index reflected 6.5 pct
rise in the domestic market and a 33.6 pct jump in the foreign market.
The statistics service also announced that the new orders index in the
industrial sector (measuring both the domestic and foreign markets)
rose by 1.1 pct in November 2007, compared with the same month in 2006,
after an increase of 9.9 pct in November 2006.
