The prime minister will return to Athens on Tuesday to preside over an Inner Cabinet meeting focusing on a ministry of state-sponsored draft bill regarding mass media concentration and the long-standing issue of permanent nationwide broadcast licenses.

Main opposition PASOK leader George Papandreou will spend Good Friday and Holy Saturday on the island of Paros, while on Easter Sunday he will visit the airport at Dekeleia.

Communist Party of Greece (KKE) General Secretary Aleka Papariga will not be in the country over the Easter weekend, having departed on a visit to China and North Korea until April 27.

Coalition of the Left, Movements and Ecology leader Alekos Alavanos will also be spending Easter on Tinos, from where his family originates, attending the Good Friday procession in Tinos harbour and the midnight resurrection mass at the Cathedral Taxiarchis. On Sunday, Alavanos is scheduled to visit the island's old people's home.

The Coalition party will be represented at official celebrations by the Armed Forces by MP Thanassis Levendis at Dekeleia Airport and Political Bureau member Panos Trigazis at the Special Forces Training Centre at Nea Peramos.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be visiting Ankara, Athens and Sofia, where she will take part in the NATO foreign ministers meeting, from April 24-28, the State Department announced in Washington on Thursday.

According to US officials, Rice is to visit Ankara then Athens for a few hours. However, the details of her visit to Athens have not been finalised, officials said.

[03] Schinoussa villa antiquities transferred to Athens

The unregistered antiquities discovered within a luxury villa on the island of Schinoussa were boxed and transferred to Athens on Thursday and are now housed at the National Archaeological Museum and the Byzantine and Christian Museum in the city. Authorities said the items would remain at the two museums until their place of origin can be traced.

Between them, the museums received some 27 ancient artifacts and a total of 15 boxes, including the headless marble torso of a statue of Aphrodite that archaeologists hope will be a Roman-era copy of the famous statue by Praxiteles.
