[01] SYN leader calls for incentives for use of bicycles
Coalition of the Left, Movements and Ecology (SYN) party leader Alekos
Alavanos on Tuesday called for incentives for the use of bicycles in
daily commuting in Athens, during a meeting with the Association of the
Friends of Bicycle.
Alavanos, who was accompanied by Alekos Tsipras -- the candidate for
Athens mayor that SYN recently decided to back in the October 2006
local government elections -- called for immediate measures, such as
extension of the bicycle lanes and the creation of parking areas for
bicycles.
He further called for incentives for the use of bicycles, and backing
for initiatives such as those undertaken by the Association.
