[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: slight decline

Equities were dropping at the opening of the session Monday on the Athens Stock Exchange, with the bourse still taking its cue from negative trends in markets abroad.

The general share price index was down 0.35 per cent 15 minutes after trade opened, standing at 2,121.56 points, with turnover at 1.7 million euros.

Individual sector indices were mixed, with the biggest gains in the Parallel Market, up 0.42 per cent, and the biggest losses in Banking, down 0.65 per cent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.63 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.03 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was down 0.26 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 66 were up, 87 were down and 45 were unchanged.

Clouds and a chance of rain in northern Greece and the northern islands on Monday. Chance of T-storms in the rest of the mainland as well. Northerly winds, weak to moderate. Temperatures between 14C to 25C in the north; 17C to 28C in the rest of the mainland and 20C to 29C on the islands.
