[01] Athens Stock Exchange opening: bourse slides

Equities were losing ground and investors discouraged at the opening of the session Thursday on the Athens Stock Exchange, as troubled foreign markets continued to affect the climate in Athens.

The general share price index was down 0.79 per cent quarter of an hour after trade opened, standing at 2,146.58 points, with turnover at 5.3 million euros.

Individual sector indices were moving down, with the biggest losses in Textiles, down 2.08 per cent. The only sector moving up was Foods and Beverages, which had gained 0.06 per cent.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.98 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.60 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was down 0.50 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 29 were up, 132 were down and 39 were unchanged.

[03] Weather Forecast: Scattered cloud on Thursday

Scattered cloud is forecast in all parts of the country, with showers and storms in parts of the Ionian and northern Aegean and on the mainland. Winds variable, light to moderate. In the north, temperatures will range from 17C to 28C; on the rest of the mainland and in the Ionian from 18C to 31C; and in the Aegean from 22C to 32C. Temperatures in Athens between 22C and 31C; and in Thessaloniki between 20C and 27C.
