    Equities were rising at the opening of trading Thursday on the Athens Stock Exchange, with the buoyant climate of the previous session maintained by support for the telecoms sector, with Panafon stock gaining 3.1 per cent and OTE gaining 1.1 per cent.

    The general share price index was up 0.36 per cent half an hour into the session, standing at 2,212.88 points, with turnover at 10.94 million euros.

    The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was up 0.37 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was up 0.39 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was up 0.72 percent.

    Of the stocks moved, 160 were up, 40 were down and 45 were unchanged.

    Sunny weather is forecast in all parts of the country, with scattered cloud from late afternoon on the mainland. Showers are likely, mainly in the north. Winds variable, light to moderate, turning strong in the southeastern Aegean. In the north, temperatures will range from 17C to 29C; in the west from 18C to 32C; and in the rest of the country from 19C to 30C. Temperatures in Athens between 21C and 30C; and in Thessaloniki between 19C and 28C.
