[01] Greek A-7 Corsair plane down in Ileia, pilot safe

An A-7 Corsair fighter aircraft crashed near Kalikomo in Ileia at 11:20 on Tuesday morning.

The pilot, 32-year-old Pantelis Karantalis, managed to eject from the aircraft on time and was confirmed to be safe and sound by a helicopter sent to pick him up from the nearby airforce base in Araxos.

The Airforce said the plane had been on a test flight.

[02] Athens Stock Exchange opening: Decline

Equity prices were declining at the opening of trading Tuesday on the Athens Stock Exchange, with the general share price index down 0.41 percent at 11:10am at 2,307.17 points and turnover at 2.5 million euros, or 850 million drachmas.

The majority of individual sector indices were moving downward, with the biggest losses in Foods & Drinks, down 1.01 percent; Base Metals, down 0.82 percent; and Banks, down 0.67 percent; and gains in Investments, up 0.87 percent; and the Parallel Market, up 0.10 pecent; while Mining & Cements was level.

The FTSE/ASE 20 index for blue chip and heavily traded stocks was down 0.58 percent, the FTSE/ASE MID 40 index was down 0.36 percent, and the FTSE/ASE SmallCap 80 index was down 0.30 percent.

Of the stocks moved, 39 were up, 102 were down and 49 were unchanged.

[03] Weather Forecast- Partly cloudy on Wednesday

Partly cloudy skies are forecast for most of Greece on Wednesday, with only a chance of rain in the north or snow flurries in mountainous regions. Northerly winds, moderate to strong and gusty in the Ionian. Temperatures between 2C to 10C in the north; 0C to 13 in the rest of the mainland; 5C to 15C on the islands.

Scattered clouds in Athens, 5C to 13C. Only a slight chance of showers towards the afternoon in Thessaloniki, 3C to 10C.
