FARMERS

After three weeks of strong protests all over Greece, farmers brought down their last roadblocks earlier this week, vowing to set up new barricades after the christmas holidays if their demands are not met.

WEATHER

Wintertime made its snow white presence felt all over Greece only a couple of days after Christmas. Several parts of the country were blanketed in snow Friday morning.

BUDGET,

Nonetheless, Greeks aren't only watching snow flakes falling on their heads, but also high increases in insurance fees, as well as in goods and services like electricity, telephone, water by next year.

ECONOMY

Next year will bring not so beautiful presents to thousands of tax payers. High increases in everyday commodities, services, and electricity, water- supply and telephone rates are expected to make things difficult for Greek citizens.

TURKISH,

Smuggling illegal immigrants by Turks to Greece's islands tends to become an everyday phenomenon. A Turkish smuggler tried to bring 47 Iraqi illegal immigrants of Kurdish origine to the island of Symi Friday.

ANCIENT TOMBS

Four Greek ancient tombs were found under the Parliament grounds, during excavation works for the construction of an underground garage.

X/MAS TREE/ATHENS CELEBR.ETION

Athens slipped officially into the holiday season last week, with the lighting of the city's Christmas tree in Syntagma Square and the holidays decoration of the city's shops.

VOLUNTEERS/ANTENNA

Christmas is a time of love and sharing, and Antenna is happy to report that both love and sharing have been in evidence this Christmas season.
