TURKEY INCIDENTTurkey continued its propaganda war against Greece this week, again questioning Greece's sovereign rights in the Aegean. The latest attack came from a Turkish admiral, who, according to a Turkish newspaper, said the legal status of many Greek islands is open to doubt.SIMITIS LETTERPrime minister Kostas Simitis made the point once again that Greece will not roll over before Turkey's attempt to challenge its Aegean rights.Touring the island of Crete at the end of the week, Mr Simitis said Turkey's questioning of Gavdos, just south of Crete, is doomed to failure. BUSHFormer US president George Bush is back in Greece, and once again the guest of Greek shipping magnate Iannis Latsis.Bush has made other visits to Greece. This time, he's travelling not only with his wife Barbara, but also with US general Colin Powell. PASOKThis week, Pasok's executive bureau more or less reconfirmed that the party's congress will be choosing a vice president for Pasok when it meets later this month.After meeting, the bureau issued a statement urging party members to agree now to accept the decisions of the congress. That statement was a message to party heavyweights who lose an eventual vice presidential contest, telling them not rock the boat after the congress. POLLNew Democracy is still ahead of Pasok with the voters.
