Preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) is the practice of testing embryos for conditions such as Huntington's, haemophilia and cystic fibrosis before they are implanted in the mother. As the first report to give a full picture of this practice at European level, it shows that PGD is a well-established practice in many Member States, but regulations, standards and accreditation requirements can differ widely[02] Cohesion policy: Eastern neighbours to share EU experience in cross- border cooperationRegional Policy Commissioner Danuta Hübner today gave a keynote speech on cross-border cooperation at a conference in ŻagaD, Poland. Organised by the Polish-German Committee on Interregional Cooperation, the conference brought together representatives of local and regional authorities from both countries to exchange views and experiences of cross-border cooperation on their common frontier. (Aviva) of Italy and Banco Popolare, also of Italy. Aviva owns and manages insurance companies. Banco Popolare is a retail bank. Novara Assicura is a non-life insurance company. The operation was examined under the simplified merger review procedure.[06] Commission clears acquisition of Christian Salvesen by GNDThe European Commission has granted clearance under the EU Merger Regulation to the acquisition of sole control of Christian Salvesen PLC of the UK by Groupe Norbert Dentressangle S.A. (GND) of France. GND is active in logistics and transport services, primarily in continental Europe. Christian Salvesen provides logistics services for manufacturing and retail customers in the industrial, consumer and food sectors, primarily in the UK, France, Benelux, Ireland, Portugal and Spain.
