[01] Adhésion de la Communauté européenne à Eurocontrol : vers un ciel
unique paneuropéen
Les plénipotentiaires des trente et un Etats membres d'Eurocontrol et la
Communauté européenne, représentée par la vice-présidente de la Commission
européenne et par le président du Conseil des transports de l'Union
européenne, ont signé aujourd'hui le protocole sur l'adhésion de la
Communauté européenne à Eurocontrol lors d'une conférence diplomatique qui
a eu lieu au siège de l'organisation à Bruxelles, sous la présidence de Mme
Isabelle Durant, ministre belge de la mobilité.
[02] Third EU-India Summit to be held in Copenhagen (10/10)
On 10 October 2002, EU and Indian leaders will meet for their third bi-
lateral Summit in the Danish capital of Copenhagen. The Summit will bring
together the Prime Minister of India, Mr Vajpayee, accompanied by his
Foreign Minister Yashwant Sinha, and his Minister for Disinvestment Arun
Shourie, with their EU counterparts, Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh
Rasmussen, European Commission President Romano Prodi, External Relations
Commissioner Chris Patten, the Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Moller, and
the High Representative of the European Union Javier Solana. The Copenhagen
Summit will be preceded by the third EU India Business Summit on 8/9
October. The EU looks forward to this Summit as an opportunity to bring
together two major global players inspired by a shared commitment to
democratic process and values. Excellent relations between the EU and India
can be further enriched, both in the economic, and non-economic spheres.
[03] La vie des femmes et des hommes en Europe - un portrait statistique
des hommes et des femmes à toutes les étapes de la vie
Eurostat et la Direction Générale "Emploi et affaires sociales" de la
Commission européenne lancent aujourd'hui une nouvelle publication
intitulée "La vie des femmes et des hommes en Europe". Celle-ci décrit les
diverses étapes de la vie, la jeunesse, l'âge adulte et la retraite, et
présente des statistiques sur les différences et les similitudes entre les
femmes et les hommes dans l'UE. Le cas échéant, des données sont aussi
fournies pour les pays candidats.
[04] Poul Nielson visits Papua New Guinea
The European Development and Humanitarian Aid Commissioner Poul Nielson
will visit Papua New Guinea from 9-11 October 2002. It will be his first
visit to the country. He will have discussions with the Prime Minister, Sir
Michael Somare, and key cabinet ministers on EU development programme in
the country. He will also deliver a speech on EU development policy at the
University of Papua New Guinea, address a meeting of Non-State Actors and
visit some of the EU-funded projects in the country. Mr Nielson will go on
to the island of Bougainville, which has returned to peace after nine years
of civil war, and meet the Governor, Mr John Momis, and the Council of
Chiefs.
