    LUXEMBOURG - European Union fisheries ministers on Tuesday agreed by majority vote a programme to reduce fishing by up to 30 percent over five years to the end of 2001 in a bid to save endangered stocks, EU officials said.

    LUXEMBOURG - Fisheries ministers agreed on Tuesday, despite British and Portuguese objections, on the allocation of a 130,000 tonnes 1997 catch quota for Atlanto-Scandian herring, Dutch Fisheries Minister Jozias Van Aartsen said.
