    ANKARA - Visiting German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel on Wednesday hit back at Turkish Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan for a perceived slight on the European Union.

    ANKARA - German Foreign Minister Klaus Kinkel traded barbs with Turkey's Islamist Prime Minister Necmettin Erbakan on Wednesday but assured Ankara it still had a place in the European family.

    BRUSSELS - The European Union and Japan have agreed that Tokyo can ship 1,092,000 cars to the EU in 1997, virtually unchanged from last year's limit, the European Commission said on Wednesday.

    BRUSSELS - The European Commission has decided to take the European Union's Council of Ministers to court because it refused to give the European Parliament a role in deciding on beef labelling, a spokesman said on Wednesday.
