[A] Turkish Cypriot Press[01] Ozersay and Tatar condemn Mitsotakis' statementsAccording to illegal Bayrak television (30.07.1-https://www.brtk.net/?englishposts=ozersay-slams-mitsotakis), so-called deputy prime minister and "foreign minister" Kudret Ozersay responded to the statements made by Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' during his visit in "south Cyprus", as the Republic of Cyprus is referred to.Ozersay described Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis' call for the end of the Turkish invasion" in Cyprus which "was the biggest foreign policy target of Greece" as outdated and archaic. Claiming that the existence of the Turkish army in Cyprus was a result of a coup organized by Greece on the island, he alleged it should not be forgotten that the Turkish army came to the island to end an occupation resulted from the violation of the constitution and agreements. Supporting the view that the existence of the Turkish army in Cyprus aimed at ending Greece's occupation, Ozersay claimed: "If Mitsotakis is looking for an invasion, then he should look at the invasion of the Cyprus Republic by the Greek Cypriots. I advise him to look at the invasion of the Cyprus Republic which two thirds of its constitution was suspended and although it does not represent the Turkish Cypriots at all, it pretends that it does and which has been usurping the rights of the Turkish Cypriots," Ozersay alleged. Responding to "the preconditions put forward by Mitsotakis for the restart of negotiations which asked Turkey to end its ongoing activities in the maritime zone in the Eastern Mediterranean and back off from the steps it considers taking on the closed city of Maras", Ozersay alleged the following: "If the Greek Prime Minister is looking for an illegal activity in the Eastern Mediterranean, then he should first of all, look at the unilateral activities of the Greek Cypriots which usurp the rights of the Turkish Cypriots. Then they will see what an illegal activity is" he argued. He went on to claim "that if Greece had evaluated the opportunities brought forward as part of a comprehensive solution and made the necessary suggestions to the Greek Cypriot side, then there would be no Maras issue today. If they could show the necessary flexibility on Maras as part of the confidence building measures then we won't have an issue of the closed city of Maras today. We might face with a positive and beautiful example regarding the future of Cyprus. I think they do not have the right to say anything on the closed city of Maras as they did none of this. Of course, the former Greek Cypriots residents are partners in Maras. However, under these conditions and at this conjuncture neither the Greek Cypriot leadership nor Greece is partners and in this regard they are not our collocutors", Ozersay further alleged. Moreover, according to illegal Bayrak television (30.07.19-
https://www.brtk.net/?englishposts=tatar-responds-to-mitsotakis),
so-called prime minister Ersin Tatar alleged that Greek Prime Minister
Kyriakos Mitsotakis' statements delivered during his first official visit
in "south Cyprus" once again proved that even if the government changes
in Greece the Greek politicians' dreams, mentality and wrong policies
on Cyprus did not change.
Tatar alleged that Mitsotakis ignores the historical facts and "realities
in Cyprus" when he demanded the end of the Turkish invasion as the highest
strategic demand of Greek foreign policy. "Kyriakos Mitsotakis tries to
deny the fact that Turkey came to Cyprus upon a call made by the Turkish
Cypriot people as a result of the bloody coup organized by Greece with
the aim of turning Cyprus into a Hellenic island and for our safety of
life and property and through using its guarantee rights" Tatar alleged.
"Even though the Greek Prime Minister tries to deny or bend the truth,
Turkey prevented Cyprus to enter into the hegemony of the fascist Greek
state, protected the Turkish Cypriots from massacres and helped Greece
to regain democracy", Tatar further alleged.
(…) Referring to the Greek Prime Minister's statement that the solution
of the Cyprus issue is meaningless without the lifting of the outdated
guarantees, Tatar alleged the following: "However, on the contrary to
Mitsotakis, the majority of the Turkish Cypriot people say 'the active
and effective guarantee of Turkey is our only guarantee. We do not trust
another system apart from this one. Turkey's guarantee is not outdated. On
the contrary, if there is no bloodshed in Cyprus and if the cease-fire
continues it's because of Turkey's guarantee. Therefore, the desire of
Greece to take Turkey out of Cyprus was not only evil-minded but also
did not coincide with the expectations of the Turkish Cypriot people"
he argued.
"In the mean time, Greece and the Greek Cypriot side who tried to threaten
Turkey for its drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean, who hint
for using force if necessary and who called on the EU to help should
know that it is not possible to prevent us and Turkey to protect our
rights in the Eastern Mediterranean" Tatar further said.
The preconditions put forward by the Greek Cypriot leader Nicos
Anastasiades during a joint press conference with Mitsotakis demanding the
end of Turkey's drilling activities and the Turkish Cypriot side to give
up its plans on Maras, once again revealed that we should be very careful
when we have contacts with the Greek Cypriots" Tatar further alleged.
"While Anastasiades with his statements confirms our government's
view that a federal solution is no longer possible in Cyprus, he also
justified our determination that contacts with the Greek Cypriot side
which are not planned well would harm our people", Tatar claimed.
According to sources, after Erdogan's instructions, technocrats in
Turkey have speed up their works in order to open for discussion the
files related with the criteria that Turkey did not meet. It is expected
according to the paper, for the works to accelerate further as of October
1st, when the National Assembly will open again. Turkey has met until
so far 66 out of the 72 EU criteria.
As regards the criteria, which are related with Turkey's cooperation with
member states on the issue of extradition of criminals, regarding the
Republic of Cyprus which Turkey does not recognize, Erdogan has proposed
for the implementation of the "Kosovo model". In this way, the sources
said, when there would be a matter of a criminal extradiction with the
Republic of Cyprus, it would take place via another EU member state. The
same sources, writes the paper, said that the German Chancellor, Angela
Merkel gave signals that it would help Turkey on this issue.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan will be the head of the meeting.
Officials will inform the Council about the drilling activities carried
out in the Eastern Mediterranean as well as the security activities
related to it.

Referring to the "signing of the interim economic and financial agreement
between Turkey and the TRNC", Erhurman accused the so-called government
for "signing the agreement" and claimed that those who condemned in the
past the "signing of the agreement with one year valid, have proceed
now to the signing of the agreement with validity of 5 months". He went
on supporting that it would be impossible for the "TRNC" to "meet the
conditions of the protocol in the time envisaged by the protocol".
On the issue of the opening of the fenced off city of Varosha,
Erhurman supported that it considers the mobility on the issue, right
and claimed that the Turkish Cypriot side cannot sit and wait for steps
to be taken. "Taking into consideration that federation is not possible
and that no solution was reached on the Cyprus problem, also, taking
into account the unacceptable stance by the Greek Cypriot leader Nikos
Anastasiades on the issue of political equality, I consider that it would
be wrong for the Turkish Cypriot side to sit and wait", Erhurman argued.
Pointing out to the need for the Turkish Cypriot side to continue with
proactive policy and to follow a multi-dimensional "foreign policy",
Erhurman alleged that it is important to indicate to the international
community that it should force Anastasiades who is comfortable now with
the current status quo, to return to the negotiating table. "It is for
this reason that I consider the mobility on the opening of Varosha right,
so that to break Anastasiades' comfort", Erhurman added.
On the hydrocarbon issue, Erhruman said that we should all act
logically. "We are not acting logically now. We act with hatred
abhorrence», Erhurman alleged, wondering why the Greek Cypriot side
rejects the Turkish Cypriot sides' proposal of the establishment of
a joint committee on the hydrocarbon issue, taking into account that
it had accepted in the past the establishment of joint committees on
other issues.
Asked to reply to the question whether he is thinking to be "presidential
candidate", Erhurman alleged that if his party's organs task him, he
would do so.

Ozersay said that the "ministerial council has decided to grant the
TRNC citizenship to six persons aged 18-22, whose families have the TRNC
citizenship". He added that the "decision to grant the citizenship will
be published in the official gazette of the TRNC".
Ozersay further announced that the "council" has decided the restructure
of the "telecommunication department". He explained that they had already
submitted a proposal for the restructuring of the "department" based on
the partnership of the public-private sector.
Referring to the issue of the opening of the fenced off city of Varosha,
Ozersay claimed that the Greek Cypriot side and Greece do not have the
right to speak on this issue. "Neither Greece nor the Greek Cypriot side
are stakeholders or our interlocutors on this issue", he claimed.

"It has been registered that Varosha, which is prepared for settlement,
it belongs to Evkaf of the Ottoman period. A group of experts has studied
and registered the title deeds one by one. There is no international
law that can touch what belongs to Evkaf", the paper claims.
The paper goes on and adds that in 2009 a group of Turkish experts that
knows the Ottoman language went to the "TRNC" and started examining
all the title deeds. The group had been to Varosha and examined all the
title deeds of Evkaf from 1571 to 1974 where 2,433 document protocols,
13,00 files and 8 million documents were studied. From all these 20
million data were received that were transferred to computers which
gather material bigger than 744 gigabytes.
The inventory taking place in the fenced off Varosha city these days
is within the scope of this registration, the paper writes, and notes
that the "general director" of Evkaf Ibrahim Fatih Benter and the late
Rauf Denktas' counselor Ata Atun gave information to the paper about the
activities taking place in Varosha this period. According to Benter, a
huge part of Varosha belongs to Evkaf and as he said they have evidence
and title deeds to prove it. As he claimed, the area belonged to three
large foundations of Evkaf: Of Lala Mustafa Pasa, of Abdullah Pasa and of
Bilal Aga. He also claimed that Greek Cypriots tried to stole documents
related to the issue and they failed.
On his part Atun said: "After the British seized the island, they started
to fraud in the deed by filling the Greek Cypriots into government
offices. These frauds were carried out especially in the lands extending
to Larnaca belonging to Abdullah Pasha and Lala Mustafa Pasha Foundations
in Varosha. When the British seized the island in 1915, they issued a
decree. They passed an application that was totally against the rules of
the foundation in order to sell this to the users of the foundation's
property. In spite of this, the properties of Lala Mustafa Pasha and
Abdullah Pasha in the property of Varosha are the added foundations. In
other words, the established foundations, those who have been dedicated
to Allah, cannot be sold or gifted, nor can anything be done", he stated.

Donmez who stated that Turkey will not back down in its demands, said
that when Turkey completes its program it will have the capacity to
store 5.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas. "This would constitute
the largest storage capacity in the world", he claimed.
He added that this would be "one of the best answers to those who oppose
the justified activities of Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean. […]
Turkey always has alternatives. The legal rights of Turkey and the TRNC
cannot be bargained", he argued.
He went on adding that Eastern Mediterranean is not only an issue of
his Ministry but an issue for the 82 million Turks. "Turkey will never
back down from its demands in the Eastern Mediterranean", he added.

Hulusi Akar said Turkey would be obliged to create a safe zone on its
own in case the two countries failed to find a common ground, according
to a statement released by the National Defense Ministry on Monday.
The Ministry said Akar congratulated Mark Esper for his new post as the
U.S. Defense Secretary and they discussed the plan on a safe zone in
northern Syria.
Akar emphasized that they would not allow a terror corridor in south of
Turkey and that Turkey wants to assure safety and security of not only
its country and people but also other religious and ethnic groups like
the Kurds, Arabs, Assyrians, Christians and Ezidis living in the region.
Akar also stressed that Turkey is the only competent, efficient and
pertinent power to provide control over a safe zone in northern Syria.
He said that the safe zone should be created under the criteria that
include retrieval of all weapons from the PKK/YPG situated in the safe
zone, wiping off the terrorist organization from the safe zone which
should be 30 to 40 kilometers in width, destruction of PKK/YPG's all
tunnels, shelters, equipment and ammunition in the area which will be
controlled by Turkey and the U.S. in coordination.
Regarding the F-35 fighter jet program, Akar noted that Turkey was not
just the customer of the project but also the investor and production
partner, and that the program should continue as planned.
This is the first time in its over 40-year history Aselsan has produced
a submarine communication system, according to an announcement Monday
from Turkey's Defense Industries Presidency.
Aselsan military communications systems were designed in line with air,
ground, and marine platforms to provide infrastructure for continuous
and secure sound and data communication.
The system includes interior and exterior subsystems as well as underwater
and surface communications including external communication, satellite
communication systems, and radar transponder systems.
The subsystems -- a communication switching system, message handling
system, intercommunication system, sound powered telephone system,
and telephone system -- are also going forward.
Under the project, Aselsan will supply six Electronic Support Measure
Systems (ESM) and six Integrated Communication and Satellite Communication
Systems. The submarines are expected to be used in Turkey's fleet starting
in 2021.
