[A] NEWS ITEMS[01] RTP accuses the occupation regime of granting ^Ócitizenship^Ô to 1000 persons within the last two monthsTurkish Cypriot daily KIBRIS newspaper (13.09.03) reports that Ferdi Sabit Soyer, general secretary of the Republican Turkish Party (RTP), has said that 1000 persons have secretly been granted the ^Ócitizenship^Ô of the occupation regime within July and August 2003.Addressing on Friday the so-called assembly, Mr Soyer noted that the above-mentioned ^Ócitizenship^Ô has been granted upon decision of the ^Ócouncil of ministers^Ô that was not published in the ^Óofficial gazette^Ô of the regime. Referring to the Turkish settlers brought illegally in Cyrus by Turkey after the 1974 invasion of the island, Mr Akinci argued that if the result of the ^Óelections^Ô gave the message that the Turkish Cypriots do not want a solution, then the ^Ópeople who came or were brought here from Turkey after 1974 will be left without support^Ô. Mr Akinci said, inter alia, the following: ^Ó^ÅThey say that if there is an agreement those who came from Turkey will be loaded on ships and sent back to Turkey. There is no such thing. No one will be sent away from this country without his own will. Only if he says ^ÑI will not stay here^Ò his family will be granted 10 thousand euros and will be sent back to Anatolia.
