Turkish mainland Cumhuriyet (25.07.01) reports that the Republican Turkish Party's (RTP) General Secretary, Ferdi Sabit Soyer has noted that during the recent rally organized in the occupied areas by the platform «This Country is Ours», the Turkish Cypriots did not demand the withdrawal of the Turkish occupation army from Cyprus.

Responding to an article of the columnist of Cumhuriyet Orhan Birgit, who wrote a commentary in Sabah newspaper's on the above mentioned event, Mr. Soyer says, among other things, the following:

«...Unfortunately you have written that there were slogans and speeches which asked the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) to leave Cyprus. You have accepted as true the false article of Sabah and showed as a fact something which did not happen. ... At the age of 16 our generation became fighters and did their military service during the most difficult times. Therefore, when someone tells us that we think differently and tries to give us lessons of nationalism, our reaction grows. ... Among our members there are some who have children, brothers, parents and relatives in massive graves. ... We fight against the massive crimes and against this mentality, not because these are committed against us, but because every racist and fanatic view is an unacceptable crime committed against humanity...».

[06] New Islamist Party established. The new allocation of seats in TGNA

According to Turkish mainland Yeni Safak (24.07.01), the allocation of the seats in Turkey`s Grand National Assembly has changed after the establishment of the islamic Contentment Party (CP), which is comprised of the hard line islamists of the Virtue Party (VP), which was outlawed by decision of Turkey/s Constitutional Court. The shooting exercise will take place at the shooting grounds near the occupied village of Elia.

The newspaper criticizes this action by writing: "At what excuse will the Security Forces carry out a shooting exercise for citizens in cooperation with NPM organization?»

Stressing that a paramilitary organization has been established with the hand of the state, political circles stated that similar organizations can be found in Latin American countries under military dictatorships. It is also reported that their aim is to prepare the creation of a death squad within NPM, concludes the paper.
