[02] Denktash claims Greeks should admit resorting to genocide against Turks According to Ankara Anatolia (12.2.01), the Turkish Cypriot leader Mr. RaufDenktash stated that Greek Cypriots and Greeks should stop denying that they attempted a genocide against Turkish Cypriots in Cyprus and this constituted the reason for the separation that started in 1963 between the two sides on the island. In a written statement sent to TAK news agency on Monday, Denktash alleged that the Greek Cypriot administration was still carrying out a genocide plan in close cooperation with Greece. ``Not a single Turk was left in Crete after a 69-year long systematic genocide practice. This is not the product of the democratic administration of the Greeks'', Denktash said. ``Makarios proudly announced that he was using the Crete model in Cyprus. Turkish Cypriots, starting in 1955, were forced to emigrate. Hundreds of them died, thousands were left unemployed. The Greek Administration pressured the Turks to quit their constitutional rights and accept the Greek Cypriots as the sole legal government of the island. Only Turkey`s legal intervention prevented this genocide become hundred percent successful. The Greek administration is continuing its genocide plans in cooperation with Greece under the false title of the Cyprus government. We shouldn/t be surprised if one day they say Turkish Cypriots had attempted genocide in Cyprus'', Denktash ended his statement.
