[01] So-called council of ministers condemns teachers/ declaration Illegal Bayrak Radio 1 (16:30 hours, 31.1.01) reports that Salih Miroglu,

``council of ministers spokesman and minister of public works and transportation'', speaking after the ``council of ministers'' meeting (31.1.01), has said that the so-called council of ministers condemned the Turkish Cypriot Teachers Union for its recent anti-Turkish declaration. Miroglu said that ``being an inseparable part of the Turkish nation, the Turkish Cypriot people consider Turkey to be the only guarantee of their future and security''. Miroglu went on to say that under the guarantee of the Turkish Armed Forces and with the dedicated support of the motherland, the Turkish Cypriots are waging a struggle for their economic development. ``An approach that ignores all this'', he said, ``has no place among our people''.

Miroglu said: ``The TRNC Council of Ministers discussed this issue today and concluded that attacks against the people/s honour and high values will not be allowed, and that the attitude of the Turkish Cypriot Teachers Union is against the people and against national interests''.
