[01] Talat discusses Cyprus problem at panel in Brussels

According to illegal Bayrak radio (4.3.98) Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat attended a panel meeting on the Cyprus issue organized by the European Parliament Greens group in Brussels, and he delivered a speech there. He said that the Cyprus problem is no longer an intercommunal issue but an international issue.

    [02] Eroglu concludes Ankara visit

According to illegal Bayrak radio (2.3.98) Dervis Eroglu on his return from Turkey, in a statement at occupied Tymbou Airport, Eroglu said that during his contacts in Ankara he stressed the need to uphold the "TRNC". He noted that Turkish officials agree that the "TRNC's economy must be strengthened and the people's standard of living raised." He said that President Demirel is sensitive about the issue of encouraging Turkish investors to invest in the occupied area and that he promised to do all he can regarding this issue.

Eroglu added that during his visit to the Turkish national defense minister and the chief of the general staff, it was clearly stated that the Turkish Armed Forces "will remain on the island as guarantors of the Turkish Cypriots." He said that at his meeting with Foreign Minister Cem, they assessed their policies and saw that they agree on them.

Eroglu said that the commercial and economic cooperation "agreement" signed with Turkey is very important in that it eliminates the need to bring every issue to the "Assembly". He noted that the "agreement" lifts the difficulties encountered in penetrating the Turkish market.

Eroglu said that Prime Minister Yilmaz said that he gave instructions to launch an operation to save the "Turkish Cypriot Airlines" and that the operation has been completed.
