In a statement to reporters before the meeting, Denktash referred to press reports that said that some Turkish Cypriots living in the free areas will be murdered. He claimed that "whenever they plan to do something bad, these people spread such reports in order to cover it up. They try to blame the Turkish Cypriots after the event." Claiming that Turkish Cypriot intelligence received information that the Greek Cypriots are planning to do bad things to some Turkish Cypriots in the free areas, Denktash said that the names and places of those who are reportedly planning these actions are known, "but it was deemed appropriate not to announce them in order not to create panic", as he put it. He also claimed that when the matter was evaluated a few days ago, a decision was made to wait for a few days, but following Greek Cypriot press reports, he believed that the matter must be discussed seriously. Denktash added that this subject would also be raised during his meeting with Feissel. He also "stressed the need" to adopt measures that will bring the two communities together rather than create confrontation between them. Denktash declared: "It is impossible to establish a federation with bad people. If the Turkish Cypriot people are so bad, if they cannot be addressed, if they are so untouchable, and if they are so bad, then how can we establish a federation? What peace are we talking about?" In his statement before the meeting, Feissel said that he wanted to conduct an assessment with Denktash on the eve of the arrival on the island of Han Sung-chu, the UN Secretary General's special representative for Cyprus. Han Sung-chu will arrive in Cyprus on 10 September to hold talks with President Clerides and Denktash. KIBRIS reports that in order for Atalay to become the so-called "Ombudsman" the approval of the so-called Assembly is also needed. (MY) [03] Acarkan issues threats for "heavier blows"KIBRIS (6.7.96) reports that the so-called speaker of the pseudo-Assembly Ayhan Halit Acarkan, speaking at the occupied village of Limnitis on the occasion of the occupation anniversary of Limnitis declared that those who did not take a lesson from the "resistance" demonstrated by the people of Limnitis or on other "fatherland soil", when the time comes they will receive heavier blows and they will be unable to escape from being completely flat-out on the ground. [04] Problems faced by Turkish Cypriots leaving in Australia to be addressedKIBRIS (6.9.96) reports that the so-called Foreign and Defence Minister of the pseudostate Taner Etkin had a meeting yesterday with the so-called chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Fighters Union of Australia, Kubilay Genc. During the meeting Etkin declared that they will reorganize the so-called "Foreign Turks Desk" at the so-called Foreign Ministry.
