The President of the House of Representatives, Spyros Kyprianou, has made
an urgent appeal to the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of
the Council of Europe, the OSCE and the Interparliamentary Union to
intervene with a view to securing the release of an illegally detained
Greek Cypriots by the Turkish occupation regime in occupied Cyprus.
Mr Kyprianou stressed that Turkey should be held responsible for the
abduction of Panicos Tziakourmas, pointing out that Turkey is in breach of
the European Convention of Human Rights and other international instruments
to which it is a party.
