[01] Belgium is ready to contribute in the search for a just Cyprus
settlement
President of the Belgium-Cyprus Friendship Group at the Belgian Parliament,
Senator Mr. Philippe Monfils stated last Friday that his country as a
founding member of the European Union adheres to the fundamental European
principles that derive from International Law, including the respect for
human rights and fundamental freedoms.
Mr. Monfils, who was received by the President of the House of Representatives
Mr. Spyros Kyprianou stressed that his country is ready to contribute by
all means in the search for a just and viable Cyprus solution on the basis
of all relevant UN Resolutions. Moreover he added that the Cyprus problem
is a European problem, and in this context the EU/s responsibilities
towards Cyprus are increased.
