[01] Foreign Minister flies to London and Budapest for Council of Europe
anniversary
Cyprus' Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides leaves for London today to
attend a two-day ceremony commemorating the 50th anniversary of the
establishment of the Council of Europe.
From London the Foreign Minister will fly to Budapest, Hungary, to attend a
Committee of Ministers meeting held May 6-7 also commemorating the Council
of Europe anniversary.
[02] Car sales fall
Motor vehicle registrations for the first quarter of this year were down
9.8 per cent on the same period last year..
According to the Department of Statistics and Research, 8,262 vehicles were
registered, as compared to last year's 9,159.
Motorbike sales, however, showed an increase during this period, rising by
32.1 per cent, with 1,029 motorbikes registered compared to 779 in
1998.
