Referring to his talks in Athens, Kasoulides said he had a "warm exchange of views with Mr. Pangalos on recent developments in Cyprus and the handling of the problem as well as the EU process." He said discussions from now on will focus on how to proceed and how to make the most of the present possibilities for the benefit of the Cyprus issue and the accession process. [02] UN envoy continues shuttle talksUN resident representative Dame Ann Hercus had separate meetings yesterday with Cyprus President Glafcos Clerides and Turkish Cypriot leader, Rauf Denktash, in the context of shuttle talks with the leaders of the two communities, in an effort to break the deadlock in finding a solution to the Cyprus problem.The UN envoy said after meeting President Clerides that "there had been a small break in the timetable of the shuttle talks, largely because of Mr. Denktash's unavailability through illness". She said that "we are now assuming, given his return to good health, that the shuttle talks will now proceed". Dame Ann said that her next meeting with Denktash has been scheduled for next week.
