    The Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, the European Commission, and UNDP (United Nations Development Program) have announced the signature of works contract for conservation works at Archangel Michael Church.

    A press release sent to the Media on Monday says that conservation works to the church will last eight months and will cost approximately 390,000 Euros, fully funded by the European Union.

    With this project the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage aims at consolidating and stabilising the church to the maximum extent possible, in order to bring the building back to its original state.

    Greece and Cyprus had the highest increase in the at-risk-of-poverty or social exclusion rate, between 2008 and 2015, according to Eurostat, the statistical office of the EU.

    In Cyprus, 23.3% of the population was at risk of poverty and social exclusion in 2008, or 180.000 individuals, and that share moved to 28.9%, or 240.000 individuals, in 2015.

    Cyprus had the second largest increase and was among the 15 member states where that rate has grown from 2008 to 2015. The highest increases have been recorded in Greece (from 28.1% in 2008 to 35.7% in 2015, or +7.6 percentage points), Cyprus (+5.6 pp), Spain (+4.8 pp), Italy (+3.2 pp) and Luxembourg (+3.0 pp). In contrast, the largest decreases among Member States for which data are available were observed in Poland (from 30.5% to 23.4%, or -7.1 pp) and Romania (-6.9 pp), followed by Bulgaria (-3.5 pp) and Latvia ...
