  • [01] CIPA and development projects Association join forces to attract FDI

    The Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency and the Association of large-scale development projects have agreed to coordinate their efforts in a bid to attract foreign direct investments.

    The Association and CIPA analysed at a recent meeting the international competitive environment in which the two bodies operate, as well as the economic situation in Cyprus.

    The two bodies discussed thoroughly ways to promote local large-scale development projects abroad, ahead of visits to be organized by the government and CIPA. They stressed the need to remedy distortions in the economy, combat red tape in the public sector, modernize legislation and practices and restore the economy`s competitiveness.

    [02] Greek Interior Minister to pay an official visit to Cyprus

    Greek Minister of the Interior Yiannis Mihelakis will pay an official visit to Cyprus on January 15 and 16 at the invitation of Interior Minister Socratis Hasikos.

    During the visit, delegations of Cyprus and Greece, headed by the two Ministers, will hold talks on the Memorandum of Understanding for the establishment of a European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation among the Interior Ministries of Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Israel.

    According to an official press release, Michelakis and the Greek delegation will arrive to Cyprus on Wednesday January 15 and in the evening he will attend an official dinner hosted by Hasikos.

    [03] Cyprus University of Technology awarded with DS Label

    Cyprus University of Technology has been awarded the DS Label (Diploma Supplement Label) by the European Commission.

    According to a press release, the Commission (DG Education and Culture) awards labels to Higher Education Institutions that apply the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System and/or the Diploma Supplement correctly in all respects.

    The ECTS and Diploma Supplement Labels are honorary distinctions, they are given to all the graduates of CUT along with their diplomas. Students are thus facilitated in case they want to use their diplomas in any other country than the one which has issued them.

    [04] Cyprus, Greece and Malta to promote common interests within and outside EU

    Cyprus, Greece and Malta will intensify their cooperation to promote common interests both within and outside the EU, Minister of Communications and Works Tasos Mitsopoulos has said.

    Mitsopoulos made the remark after he and his counterparts from Greece and Malta, Miltiadis Varvitsiotis and Josephon Mizzi, respectively were received by President of the Republic, Nicos Anastasiades.

    Earlier a Trilateral ministerial meeting on shipping between Cyprus, Greece and Malta took place.
