    The number of serious injuries in road accidents in Cyprus is markedly high compared to the country's population, with room for improvement, according to NGO REACTION, Youth Organization for Road Safety.

    The organization also said that despite the decline in fatal road accidents, the road safety issue on the island still remains a problem.

    An announcement issued by REACTION said that its President and board members, the High Commission of Australia to Cyprus as well as the Head of the Traffic Department at the Police Headquarters visited Nicosia General Hospital on Friday and handed out gifts to those injured in road accidents. They also discussed the situation with the hospital's medical staff.

    [02] Electricity prices significantly down in 2013, CERA says

    Cyprus Electricity Regulatory Authority (CERA) President Giorgos Siammas has said that electricity prices were reduced by 17.5% for the average household in 2013.

    He was speaking to the press, on Friday, after having handed over CERA's annual report for 2012 to the Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades at the Presidential Palace.

    During his meeting with President Anastasiades they discussed matters relating to the purchase of electricity, natural gas and renewable sources of energy, he said.
