  • [01] Defence Minister: Turkey provocatively continues intransigent stance

Turkey provocatively continues its intransigent stance by promoting unacceptable positions which in fact lead to an indirect recognition of the illegal regime in the north of Cyprus and the fait accompli of the Turkish invasion in Cyprus, Defence Minister Photis Photiou has stressed.

Speaking here Saturday at the funeral of the remains of Spyros Panayi and Xenis Rousos, who lost their lives during the Turkish invasion in 1974, Photiou said that the almost daily Turkish provocations against Cyprus' sovereign rights constitute a threat to the security and stability of the region.

Photiou stressed that despite Ankara`s stance, the government of Cyprus seeks, through a good preparation and an agreed base of the negotiations, the resumption of the talks aimed at finding a solution to the Cyprus problem
