2013 Q1 [01] Passenger traffic in May satisfactory and encouragingThe latest results for passenger traffic for May at the two international airports of Cyprus are satisfactory and encouraging, a press release by Hermes Airports, the operator of Cyprus' airports, says.It is noted that based on official figures from Hermes Airports, during the period 01 until 31May, there has been a notable increase in passenger traffic of 5.5% in comparison to the corresponding period last year. "This improvement in traffic is due mainly to the Easter Holidays, the increase in flight capacity to and from Russia and the United Kingdom, as well as a certain low cost airline resuming its summer routes to and from Pafos" the press release says. [04] Cyprus among EU member states with largest employment decreases in 2013 Q1Cyprus, Greece, Portugal, Spain and Italy registered the largest employment decreases in the EU during the first quarter of 2013, according to national accounts estimates published on Friday by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.Among those member States for which data are available, Lithuania (2.4%), Estonia (2.3%) and Latvia (1.0%) recorded the highest growth rates compared with the previous quarter.
