  • [01] Wrong perceptions about the Cypriot economy should stop, says German professor

German Professor/researcher, Heinz Richter, said that it time to put an end to some wrong perceptions that exist in Germany regarding the banking sector in Cyprus and the way the economic situation is being managed.

According to an official statement, Richter met with the President of the House Finance Committee Nicholas Papadopoulos who briefed him on the current economic situation on the island following the Eurogroup decisions.

Papadopoulos pointed out that despite the fact that mistakes have been made in Cyprus in recent years in the handling of its economy, the way the Republic of Cyprus was treated at the Eurogroup meeting was "particularly unfair and harsh".

[02] Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage visits churches in occupied north

Members of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage, part of the EU funded project to support emergency interventions for Cultural Heritage Monuments, carried out visits to churches in the Turkish occupied north of the island.

According to a press release of the United Nations Development Programme Partnership for the Future (UNDP-PFF), the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot members of the Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage visited the Panagia Church in Trachoni and the Profitis Elias Church in Philia.

The visit is part of the Technical Committee's supervision work in different cultural heritage sites island-wide where emergency interventions are currently being implemented.
