[01] German Ambassador assures of her country`s will to support Cyprus
Eurogroup decisions on Cyprus have been particularly harsh, House
President Yiannakis Omirou said in a meeting here today with the
Ambassador of Germany in Nicosia Gabrielle Guellil, who on her part
assured of Germany`s will to support Cyprus` substantial efforts to
restart its economy.
According to an official press release, Omirou stressed that Cyprus needs
support and solidarity with a view to overcome the crisis and promote
growth. Commenting on the results of the recent EU-Turkey Association
Council, the President of the House of Representatives expressed his
disappointment over statements of Turkey's Foreign Minister Ahmet
Davutoglu and Ankara's refusal to fulfill its obligations vis-Ã -vis
the Republic of Cyprus and the EU.
Moreover, the German Ambassador handed over a letter to Omirou, from
Íïrbert Lammert, the President of Germany's lower House, the Busdestag,
congratulating the Cyprus House for the successful organization of the
Conference of the Presidents of EU Parliaments, last April in Nicosia.
