  • [01] Panama wishes Cyprus success in difficult economic times

    Panama has expressed support and wishes for success "during these difficult economic times the government of Cyprus is facing," new Ambassador of the Republic of Panama, stationed in Athens, Aymard H. Jimenez Granda has said.

    Presenting his credentials to President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, Granda also said "Panama supports the efforts made by the government of the Republic of Cyprus for a solution towards the reunification of the country."

    Granda added that "we look forward to continuing the friendly diplomatic relations between our two nations and to further strengthening those bonds in other areas in ways that will bring our nations and our people closer."

    [02] Commission wants resumption of Cyprus talks

    The European Commission looks forward to the complete resumption of the Cyprus peace talks the soonest to achieve a completion of the talks, said Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule.

    He added that the Commission acknowledges the attention of the government of Cyprus is directed elsewhere.

    [03] MEPs criticise EU for Cyprus bailout

    MEPs criticised, on Tuesday, during a plenary debate a Eurogroup decision on a Cyprus ‘bail - in' in March.

    Replying to MEPs, EU Vice President Olli Rehn pledged that the Commission will concentrate on facilitating new measures of economic activity in Cyprus.

    [04] FM issues travel advice for Korea

    The Foreign Ministry has issued a travel advice for the citizens of the Republic of Cyprus who are residents or intend to visit the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, due to increased tension in the Korean Peninsula.

    According to a press release by the Foreign Ministry, taking into account the increased tensions on the Korean Peninsula, the citizens of the Republic of Cyprus are advised to avoid non essential travel to the country and in the event of their presence there, to follow local or international news reports on the political and other developments and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website as well as the Facebook page of Crisis Management Department which is linked to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs homepage.
