[01] Technical Committee announces measures on cultural heritage sitesThe Technical Committee on Cultural Heritage on Monday announced the introduction of emergency measures in three cultural heritage sites in Cyprus. Works are set to begin in the following two weeks.According to an announcement, in addition to the mosque in Denia (in the Nicosia district) where emergency interventions started earlier in February this year, the new three sites to benefit from EU funding and UNDP-PFF implanted interventions include Profitis Elias Church in the occupied village of Philia, Melandrina Church in the occupied village of Kalograia and Panagia Church in the occupied village of Trachoni. Works for all three sites will begin in the following two weeks and will focus on emergency measures. Additional cultural heritage sires such as the Cerkez Mosque in Phasouri village in the Limassol district and the Kato Paphos Bath in the southwest of the island will benefit from similar interventions in the months to come. [02] President: The bailout agreement has put an end to uncertaintyPresident Nicos Anastasiades has said that the completion of Cyprus' negotiations with its international lenders and the conclusion of the bailout agreement for Cyprus have put an end to uncertainty, adding that everyone must now focus on efforts to create prospects and raise hope for the recovery of the economy.He also noted that measures towards this direction will be announced during a press conference on Thursday, after two meetings of the Council of Ministers that will take place on Monday and Tuesday. In statements to the press on Sunday, Anastasiades expressed regret over statements made by Central Bank of Cyprus Governor Panicos Demetriades. "I did not expect that Demetriades would make public statements - as I have never done - especially while being abroad, denouncing the government or the parliament of his country that they allegedly react to his actions," the President said, responding to questions by the press. [03] Communications Minister: Cyprus remains an attractive place to investCyprus remains a serious and attractive place to invest, despite economic hardships, Communications and Works Minister Tasos Mitsopoulos has said.He added that the Cabinet would convene on Monday and Tuesday to discuss exclusively the potential for investments and major development projects. [04] Cyta and the Ports Authority disagree with privatisationThe Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (Cyta) and the Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA) have both expressed their disagreement with the prospect of privatisation and believe they can use their own resources to cover the amount demanded by the Troika, as part of Cyprus` bailout agreement.Speaking after a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Finance, which discussed Cyta`s budget for 2013, Chairman of the Boards of Directors of Cyta Stathis Kittis said privatisations were not necessary, especially those providing financial resources to the state. Chairman of the Board of Directors of CPA Chrysis Prentzas said the privatisation of the CPA did not serve the public interest, adding that what was needed was the modernisation and restructuring of the organisations. [05] Cyprus Spring cultural events taking place in MunichA series of cultural events titled "Cyprus Spring" are taking place at the Gasteig Cultural Center in Munich. The premiere, last Friday, was attended by 200 guests.According to a statement issued in Nicosia, the events are being organised for the eighth consecutive year. Cyprus' Ambassador Minas Hadjimichail noted in his speech that Cyprus' culture, civilization and natural beauties are amongst the few things that remain unspoiled despite the financial crisis. The events will be taking place until the 25th of April and they include a photo exhibition and screening of short films by Cypriot directors. Artists Alkinoos Ioannides, George Kaloudis, George Pantazis, Nicholas Michael, Marios Takoushis, Gavriel Karapatakis , Savvas Savva and Irene Demetriadou are participating in the events.
