[01] British MPs want compensation paid to British depositors in Cyprus
An Early Day Motion (EDM) submitted by a number of British MPs calls
for a refund of any compensation given to British nationals who have
had money taken from their accounts in Cyprus through a reduction in
the next British payment to the EU.
The motion, submitted a few days ago, criticises the depositors' blow
in Cyprus "without permission by the EU".
A second (EDM) submitted by George Galloway MP calls upon the British
government to "get actively involved with its EU partners and the
Russian authorities in finding a solution which will stabilise the
Cypriot banking system and reassure retail depositors across the EU." .
