[01] Talks for the sale of BoC and Laiki branches freeze
Talks in Nicosia regarding the sale of the branches of Cypriot banks
Cyprus Popular Bank (Laiki) and Bank of Cyprus (BoC) to the Greek Piraeus
Bank, froze Sunday evening.
CNA has learnt that the decision was made by President of the Republic
Nicos Anastasiades, who is currently in Brussels, holding negotiations
ahead of the crucial Eurogroup meeting.
The same sources told CNA that the taking over of the two Cypriot branches
would be part of any global agreement on the loan program to be agreed
between the Troika and Cyprus.
