[01] Agriculture Minister to attend Agriculture and Fisheries Council
Agriculture and Natural Resources Minister Petros Kougialis, has departed
for Brussels to attend the Agriculture and Fisheries Council of the EU
that will take place on Monday under the presidency of Simon Coveney,
Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine of Ireland.
Ministers will try to reach agreement on a general approach on the
proposals for the direct payments regulation, the single common market
organisation (CMO) regulation, the rural development regulation and
the horizontal regulation within the framework of reform of the common
agricultural policy (CAP).
Regarding Fisheries issues the Council could reach agreement on the
establishment of a TAC for sandeel for 2013. Finally, ministers will be
briefed on the Russian embargo on EU potato seeds.
