taken soon [01] Former Eurogroup President says decisions on Cyprus must be taken soonFormer Eurogroup President and Prime Minister of Luxembourg Jean-Claude Juncker has said that Cyprus' financial problems should be addressed with the same care demonstrated in the case of Greece, Ireland and Portugal and expressed the view that a decision on Cyprus must be taken soon.In an interview with the international press agency "Agence Europe", published in Brussels, former Eurogroup President noted that "if a country like Cyprus, as small as it is, faces unresolved problems, then these problems should be addressed with the same care the Greek, Irish and Portuguese problems were addressed". He added that if a member of the Eurozone has problems similar to those faced by Cyprus with regard to their type, nature and scale, then it should be considered as a systemic case, and added that a big problem in a member of the Eurozone is a systemic problem due to a high probability of spreading. [02] Agreement on development of Cyprus' airports receives awardThe government's concession agreement with a private investor on the development and management of Larnaka and Pafos International Airports has been awarded the Best Transport Project award by the World Finance Magazine.An official press release says that the agreement has been awarded as the best Public-Private Partnership agreement signed in the EU transport sector in 2013, as it effectively deals with the challenges posed by such projects, ensures quality of design and is considered to be innovative compared to other similar partnerships. "The award is a recognition of the success of the agreement" the press release said. [03] Malaysia does not accept Cyprus' occupation, says High CommissionerMalaysia maintains a principled stance as regards the Cyprus problem and does not accept the occupation of Cyprus, the country`s High Commissioner to Cyprus, based in Beirut, Ilanko Karrupannan has stressed.The Malaysian diplomat held a meeting Wednesday with President of the House of Representatives Yiannakis Omirou, who briefed him on the Cyprus problem, Turkish aggression against Cyprus' sovereign rights in its Exclusive Economic Zone, as well as the economic situation in Cyprus. According to an official press release, Omirou referred to the efforts of the Republic of Cyprus to reach a solution to the Cyprus problem, saying that this has not been achieved yet due to Turkey's intransigent stance, which occupies 37% of Cyprus territory since the invasion in 1974. [04] German parliamentary delegation visits CyprusÁ delegation of the Committee on Economics and Technology of the German Bundestag pays a visit to Cyprus March 6-8, during which it will hold a series of meetings with key representatives of the House of Representatives, the Government of the Republic, as well as of the Cyprus business community.According to an official press release issued by the German Embassy in Nicosia, "the talks will focus on the current economic and financial situation in the European Union and the Euro zone as well as on bilateral economic relations. As in other EU member states, the approval of the German parliament is required for a potential international bailout package for Cyprus." The German MPS will meet among other with the President of the House of Representatives, the House Committee for Financial and Budgetary Affairs, the Ministers for Finance and for Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism as well as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Cyprus.
