[01] Labour Minister: Government prioritizes tackling of unemployment
Addressing unemployment is a priority for the new Government, Cyprus
Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Harris Georgiades said on
Saturday, expressing in parallel his confidence that after the conclusion
of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), positive actions will lead to
the stabilization of the economy.
Georgiades said that "the situation with unemployment is really out
of control" and noted that the phenomenon is the worst impact of the
economic crisis. "We will work collectively because this is not an issue
concerning only one Ministry, but the whole government" the Minister said.
He added that it was imperative to create the necessary preconditions for
the economy to recover and expand, encouraging enterprises to create jobs.
