[01] FM expresses concern over Syria at EU Council
Cyprus Foreign Minister Erato Kozakou - Marcoullis has expressed concern
over the situation in Syria.
Marcoullis, in an intervention during the EU Council of Foreign
Affairs, on Monday, reiterated Cyprus' deep concern on serious human
rights violations and the great humanitarian crisis in Syria. She also
expressed Cyprus' support to the UN Special Representative Lakhtar
Brahimi's efforts to reach a political settlement.
At the same time, she welcomed the Syrian opposition's recent position
on beginning a political dialogue and contacts with the Russian
Federation.Apart from Syria, EU ministers also discussed developments
in Mali and the Eastern Partnership.
