[01] EP supports small Aegean islands
The European Parliament plenary has approved by an overwhelming majority
a report on a Commission regulation proposal in support of small Aegean
islands.
In statements to CNA, EP Vice President and rapporteur Giorgos Papastamkos
said the report is the EU contribution to the preservation of traditional
crops, standardisation, the supply to islands and the transport of
products among these islands.
It is a programme, he noted, which will encourage the continuation of
traditional crops.
Papastamkos further highlighted the fact that in this way the EU shows
that "it recognises the difficulties the islands of the Aegean Sea face".
