  • [01] Unity needed to overcome problems, President says

President of the Republic Demetris Christofias has reiterated that unity will help Cyprus overcome its problems and prosper.

There is room for everyone in Cyprus; Greek Cypriots, Turkish Cypriots, Maronites, Armenians and Latins, adding that the multicultural character of Cyprus is what makes it so beautiful and it ought to be preserved, he stressed.

[02] Financing of project "Home for Cooperation"

The Planning Bureau and the Association of Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) have signed a project contract for the financing of the project "Home for Cooperation" which will be implemented under the Norway Grants 2009-2014.

[03] No transfer of natural gas via Turkey prior to Cyprus solution

Transfer of Cyprus natural gas through Turkey cannot be done unless the Cyprus problem is solved, Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou has made clear.

The comment came after an article published by "The Economist" stating that "Cyprus's creditors may press for the faster (and cheaper) option of building a pipeline to Turkey: something that, with settlement talks with the Turkish-Cypriot north stalled, Greek-Cypriots would find hard to swallow".
