    The Department of Antiquities announced on Thursday the extension of the duration of two exhibitions, one in Brussels and the other one in Cyprus.

    According to an official announcement "due to the great success of the exhibition "Ancient Cyprus: Cultures in Dialogue", organized at the Royal Museums of Art and History in Brussels on the occasion of Cyprus Presidency of the EU, the duration of the exhibition has been extended until March 10".

    A second announcement says that the Department of Antiquities "in response to the general public's interest, announces that the duration of the exhibition «anThrOPOS: Faces of Cyprus through the Ages» has been extended until 3/3/2013".

    [02] Greek and Turkish Cypriots to cooperate on fire fighting

    Ôhe bicommunal Technical Committee on the Environment has announced a new environmental initiative - a confidence building measure on "Partnership for the prevention of forest fires within the buffer zone".

    The initiative is implemented by Cyprus Scientific and Technical Chamber (ETEK) and the Union of the Chambers of Cyprus Turkish Engineers and Architects ( KTMMOB).

    According to a press release, the project is expected to help both communities, Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots, to work together to tackle this problem. To project aims to make a comprehensive assessment of the problem of fires within the buffer zone.

    As mentioned, this will include the identification of high-risk areas, areas with inadequate infrastructure for fire prevention and the risks to productive resources of the region.

    [03] Presidential nominations take place on Friday

    Eleven candidatures are expected to be submitted on Friday at the official nomination process for the forthcoming February 17 Presidential elections, Central Election Service Director Demetris Demetriou has said.

    In statements he made in Parliament on Thursday, Demetriou noted that the process will take place at the Hilton, in Nicosia, starting at 09.00 and ending at 12.00. Every fifteen minutes the Elections Service will be receiving the relevant documents by each candidate.
