[01] Ésraeli Minister extends invitation to Cypriot counterpart to
discuss energy
Israeli Minister for Energy and Water Resources Silvan Shalom has extended
an invitation to his Cypriot counterpart to visit Israel in September
to discuss issues relating to the cooperation of both countries in the
area of energy.
According to CNA sources, the Israeli official, who held a meeting
Monday with Cypriot Minister for Agriculture, Natural Resources and
the Environment Nicos Kouyialis, expressed his country's readiness to
cooperate with Cyprus in the field of energy.
Kouyialis paid Israel a two-day visit in the framework of the Memorandum
of Understanding signed in August between Cyprus, Greece and Israel in
the areas of energy and water resources. CNA has learnt that during the
meeting, Shalom held a telephone conversation with Cypriot Minister of
Energy, Giorgos Lakkotripis, to whom he extended an official invitation to
visit Israel in September to discuss cooperation in the area of energy
and natural gas. During his meetings in Israel, Kouyialis conveyed
messages from the Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades and Minister of
Energy Giorgos Lakkotripis for cooperation in the areas of energy and
water resources.
